CSOR Hosts Inaugural Occupational Licensing Conference: Emerging Scholars
April 30, 2019Emily Vargo (left), Director of Policy Research and Academic Programs and Alexis Schumacher (right), Graduate Assistant attended Pennsylvania’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 8th.
They hosted three workshop sessions for high school students titled: Life After High School: College and Careers. The subject matter of these workshops helped students concentrate on future majors and potential careers as well as what to look for in a university when selecting one to attend. They grouped the college experience into four focal points:
- Academic Programming
- University Geographical Location
- Type of University (size, reputation and if it is a research or teaching institution)
- University Amenities
With each session well attended, Ms. Vargo and Ms. Schumacher spoke to over 200 students in depth about university academics and the college experience.
The Knee Center for the Study of Occupational Regulation plans to attend next year’s conference.
